Some of you like to sneakily open the door of your wood burner to feel and hear the full force of the flaming flames. While the appeal is understandable, doing this does not do your stove any good whatsoever. A woodburner is designed so that the flames heat the metal and the metal heats the room and everything in it (including you). Opening the stove door allows to much oxygen into the firebox, which causes overfiring and might result in permanent damage to your wood burners. So please note the door is ok to be left slightly open during the lighting stage but once this has been done then keep the stove door closed.
